FOCUS Southern California offers volunteers and donors the opportunity to live the gospel of Matthew for “the least of these”. As an Orthodox Christian nonprofit organization engaging the faithful from all Southern California Orthodox Churches, jurisdictions, and the community, we follow Christ’s call to serve our neighbors in need within the five ministry areas of Food, Occupation, Clothing, Understanding and Shelter.
In Southern CaLIFORNIA Since 2020

Partnered with food banks and nonprofit organizations to obtain, at low cost, food and essential goods for distribution to individuals and families in need. See “Multiply Your Impact” below.

Established a unique distribution hub model to reach communities with pockets of poverty, transportation deficiencies, and resource scarcity, in cities including Anaheim, San Juan Capistrano, Santa Ana, Westminster, and Los Angeles.

Served 1,000+ families monthly in Southern California, lovingly and compassionately disbursing food, clothing, diapers, and other essential personal items, as well as blankets, heaters, and other household necessities.

Distributed 2.5 million pounds of food to impoverished individuals and families in Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Helped cook and deliver hot meals weekly to 150 homeless individuals and families in San Diego.

Opened a Food Pantry at the FOCUS warehouse in Santa Ana.

Recruited over 3,500 Orthodox and community volunteers who have served thousands of hours helping Southern California’s at-risk populations.
EVERY $1 UNLOCKS $16
- For every $1 donated, FOCUS Southern California is able to obtain $16 worth of food, household goods and supplies to support the impoverished in Southern California. Your gift of $2,500 will be leveraged into $40,000 worth of food, household goods and essential supplies to support those in need; $5,000 will be leveraged to provide $80,000 worth of support; and $10,000 will be leveraged to provide $160,000 worth of support.
The impact WE Hope to have in 2024
Serve at least 3,000 impoverished families monthly in Southern California by the end of 2024.
Expand our reach through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), a federal program that supplements the diets of low-income Americans by providing nutritious food at no cost to the recipients.
Branch out to new locations in Orange and Los Angeles Counties, for TEFAP and other distributions of food and essential items. This is a critical service provided by FOCUS Southern California – we deliver basic necessities directly to communities that need them but have limited ability to access them.
Increase and diversify the items acquired by FOCUS Southern California and expand distribution of these items to combat systemic poverty and help people-in-need achieve stability, including: a) diapers and baby wipes, which are prohibitively expensive for mothers living below the poverty level; b) tents and sleeping bags for people living on the streets; c) feminine products, dental and other hygiene products, backpacks, school supplies, and toys at Christmas.
Hire a Project Manager to oversee our distributions as we expand our reach in the community to feed low-income families.
